Cabin Air Filter

This is a cabin Air Filter I replaced here at Fetch and Fix. “Every breath you take filters through this very system. Would you really want to be inhaling through a mouse nest?”

When?
Annually
or 15,000 Miles

What:
The cabin air filter cleans the air that comes through your vehicle’s heating, A/C, and ventilation system. Almost every modern vehicle has one. It is usually a pleated filter, and some are made with carbon to help reduce odors.

Why:
All air entering the cabin passes through this filter, including outside air and recirculated air. Over time, the filter collects dust, pollen, leaves, moisture, and other debris. If it becomes dirty or damp, it can restrict airflow, cause musty odors, and in some cases allow mold or mildew to develop. That is not something you want to breathe every time you drive.

We recommend using a carbon cabin air filter when available because it can help reduce odors and improve the quality of the air inside the vehicle.

When:
We recommend replacing the cabin air filter every 15,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Vehicles driven in dusty, damp, or high-pollen conditions may need replacement more often.
