Antifreeze

When?
2 yrs 24,000 miles
up to
5 yrs 150,000 miles

What? Antifreeze serves multiple functions.
1:The most obvious is providing a path for heat to leave the engine and be disposed of to keep engines running cooler.
2:The heat transferred from the engine can also be used in the interior to make passengers comfortable with heat.
3: The coolant also serves as a protectant for various metals to preserve them from corrosion.
4: The antifreeze will lower the freeze point of the coolant to prevent the liquid from freezing and busting engine parts and radiators.

Why? The antifreeze does lose its ability to protect the metals from corrosion and also can allow the engine to freeze at a higher temperature thus not preventing a freeze up when normal winter temperatures arrive.

When?  older vehicles using the traditional green antifreeze, it is advisable to change it every 2 years or every 24,000 miles. However, the new coolants can last much longer.

Note:  It’s important not to fall for the idea of one-size-fits-all coolant, as universal coolants can lead to mechanical issues. These problems may not surface immediately, and it can take years for them to become apparent. Additionally, it can be challenging to prove that the coolant caused these issues. In my opinion, using a coolant specifically designed for your vehicle is the best approach.

We keep a wide variety of over a dozen different coolants in stock, ensuring that we have the right coolant for all the cars we service.
