Fuel Filter

When?
3 yrs 30,000 miles
What? Fuel filters are designed to do exactly that: filter fuel. While some are external inline filters, many new vehicles now have an in-tank strainer.
Why? Replacing the fuel filter is essential to remove any impurities that have been caught by the filter. If not replaced regularly, the filter can reduce fuel pressure and volume, which can affect the engine’s running condition and potentially destroy the fuel pump.
When? For older vehicles with an external inline filter, it should be replaced every 3 years or 30,000 miles. For newer vehicles with an in-tank strainer, replacement is only necessary if the electric fuel pump is serviced.
